Mike Oetting, Reference Librarian from Hinsdale Public Library provides these slides on Slideshare which outline the state of the eReader market after the entry of Apple’s iPad.
This relates to the state of play in the U.S. Here in Australia not all these devices are available, however the iPad has just hit the market here.
I have one thing to add to the downside of e-readers slide - they don't have the lovely smell of books and if you buy them second hand they don't have the last persons scrawled notes in them.
yes the tactile side of books as an object is something we probably take for granted. And the aging look of a book that gets some use, when its lent around.
